As a great hands on activity I’ve always done just plain old shaving cream, give them a big t shirt or some old clothes and just let them schmear it around and play in it lol. They love it. And i wouldn’t do it now unless it was dirt cheap, but food fights used to be great! Jello, instant potatoes, pudding, spaghetti noodles, the messier the better! Then you hose everyone off and they can change and move about their day. 😊😂
Won’t they think it’d use cream and eat it??
I did shaving cream painting in preschool and my teacher told us we could put our hands in it and my hands were stained😂

when I was younger, I would get a shallow tupperware container that comfortably fit a sheet of paper. I’d put it in there with some marbles and paint and just tilt the container around to make a painting. oh, the memories.

The popsicle sticks do em with food color so that if the kids Try to put it in there mouth it’ll be fine

some things i loved as a kid that yours may too / that i do for my little one ;
garbage bag and shaving cream, i was covered head to toe in this so make sure to do it nowhere near carpet. ( or do this outside )
bubble machine, the ones that spew bubbles like crazy. way more amusing and to keep little ones interested over the tiny ones.
bath markers, LOVED drawing on the tile with these and wash away asap
slime powder for bath, not sure if they make these anymore but i spent all day in these
outdoor balloons on a summer day with water, loved popping these

If you want another rainy day activity to do you can make yourself a rocket with two chairs a string and a straw and clothespin you’re going to take your string and tie it to two chairs then you are going to put a straw onto the stream before you tie it blow up a balloon take it to the straw put a clothes banana and let go and watch it fly hope this helps
And obviously, cleaning is the funnest

if you let them play in the rain I recommend either getting a towel warmerby the door to warm them quick when you come inside.. you could use the dryer but that usually further away and the littlest will be cold and longer they’re cold the crankier they get.
you could put a piece of paper on the paint shaving cream one and have a little memory

How is wearing socks a rainy day activity
I would use something edible like whipped cream and food colouring instead of schaving cream, especially for younger kids (I babysit) incase they put it in their mouth. Still good though!

For the shaving cream- top tip – Get it swirled around, then add a piece of fabric on top for a cool tye dye design! This could work on shirts etc too that’s just how I did it
